While the technical component of this project is established, the overall theme or ‘aesthetic’ is still unclear. I think the best way to apply the technical concept of sampling to a definite aesthetic is to emulate a specific style, genre or artist. I’m going to use the sample to try to create a piece in a definite style (could potentially be two different piece in two different genres). Currently, the different styles/genres I’m considering are;
- Ambient/soundtrack.
- Hip-Hop.
- Electronica.
- Lo-fi house.
Aside from personal interest, I’ve chosen these genres because they tend to incorporate sampling.
