I’ve begun experimenting with the Bessie Jones vocal sample using the Ableton sampler. The Ableton sampler is a purpose built instrument designed to edit and manipulate samples. The sounds that I’ve managed to create have been fairly rudimentary but it’s still early days.
This is a glitch sound that could potentially be used as a high-hat/high pitched rhythm sound.
The original sample used was a clap from the track. After cropping the clap I placed it into the sampler and turned on the filter envelope and mod oscillator, transposing the pitch up 48 semitones. The filter was then placed on, adjusting the filter frequency and resonance. After modifying the sampler I added reverb and a saturation.

The next sound I created was the a kick drum. Finding a way to emulate a typical sounding kick drum is essential to the project, regardless of the genre I choose to pursuit.
I also begun making the kick sound by using a cropped clap sample. I turned on the filter envelope where I shrunk the release and transposed the pitch down an octave . The sustain was also heavily reduced. I then added the EQ Eight equaliser to eliminate higher frequency sounds occurring.

The final sound I’ve made is a clap itself. Due to the clapping in the original sample this was fairly straightforward and didn’t require sampler. Instead I just edited the original audio stem. I transposed the the clap down slightly and then added reverb.
